[dba-Tech] A question about Office 2007

If you open any of these four-character file extension .dotx, .docx, 
xltx, xlsx etc.
with WinZip you will find they are a compressed collection of xml files.
This is why you need a conversion utility for older versions of Office

Even Access has its own template files .accdt that are compressed xml files
You can find samples of these at
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 2007\Templates\1033\Access\
