Worked fine. I did it across my LAN. I think I needed to use a writable CD to load a program from the Vista system onto the XP system. It's been 8 months or so since I used it so I don't remember every detail though. No special cable. Just normal ethernet through the router. You pick and choose what to transfer. I copied document folders and Internet favorites mostly. Some other files too I guess. It worked fine for me.
