I have a copy of all the big patches on my laptop at work, because when I go to different sites its easier to deploy them from somewhere on the local network than to cripple the 512kb link between sites that some of our smaller branches have... I let WSUS pick up the smaller ones though, or I'd be carrying a server around with me :-) Jon -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of John Bartow Sent: 15 October 2007 17:28 To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Problem After New MoBo Installed Thanks Jon, I should have posted a link for Bryan <blush>. Windows Update won't present you with the option to skip the pre-SP2 updates but you can get any of the updates as individuals downloads and apply them as needed. I used to do this when dial-up was the defacto connection method for most of my clients. I'd then burn them to a CD and take them onsite with me. This would be the manual method which can now be replaced by using WSUS in small networks or SMS in larger environments. -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Jon Tydda Sent: Monday, October 15, 2007 4:36 AM To: Discussion of Hardware and Software issues Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Problem After New MoBo Installed Well, in case you need to do it again, here's the URL for SP2: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=049c9dbe-3b8e-4f30- 8245-9e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en _______________________________________________ dba-Tech mailing list dba-Tech at databaseadvisors.com http://databaseadvisors.com/mailman/listinfo/dba-tech Website: http://www.databaseadvisors.com -- This email has been verified as Virus free Virus Protection and more available at http://www.plus.net
