I think it would be a good idea to remove the battery when leaving the notebook on 24/7. These batteries don't like being under power all the time. I think I also read this advice once in a Toshiba manual. Also the screen should be switched off because the fluorescent light for the background illumination might wear out. I think this is being handled by the power savings settings anyhow.
