[dba-Tech] VPC - What Do I Do Now?

Hi Rocky,

Yes you have to install an operating system. I have Vista Home, Vista
Business, XP and Windows 95 machines setup so I can test software on what my
clients may be using.

Also I have Access 97, Access 2003 and Access 2007 installed on my main
Vista 64 machine, and do not have any problems with Access except waiting
for 2007 to re-install after using 2003 (I only work in 2003, just test
2007) and then re-install 2003 after using 2007.

Open 2007 after using 2003 install time 81 seconds
Open 2003 after using 2007 install time 39 seconds

Open XP VM to use Access 2003 about 3 minutes

By the way if I have 2003 open and then open 2007 it only takes 49 seconds
to install 2007 and both appear to work, though I doubt I'd do that very
often but it's nice to know you can.

Things do run a little slower on a Virtual Machine too, so for developing
I'd use what ever version I needed on my main machine.

Having VM's with different operating systems however is very helpful.

HTH

Bill.

OK. I'm going to do Virtual PC. First I had to upgrade Vista to Ultimate.
Then I downloaded and installed VPC. Created a VM called Office 2003
because the Vista box has Office 2007. I want to set up an Office 2003
machine and an Office 200 machine for testing.

Started VPC and I get the black screen with Action Edit Floppy Help. And
I'm stuck. God knows I don't want to read the manual. I suppose I have to
install an OS now. You VM gurus, briefly what do I do next?
