AHA! You're right Bill. Spec page says expandable to 2GB. I'm maxed out!
It's OK. It ran pretty snappy with 1GB. This is the VPC machine so I
wanted a little more RAM.

Thanks.

Rocky, try doing a Google on the e-machine model number for specs. Also some
machines will not accept miss matched ram, they want the same type in each
slot.

John:

Well, the crucial scan could not determine the manufacturer or model of my
PC but according to the scan the system already has the maximum amount of
memory installed. So maybe this box has a 2GB limit. I'll have to check
the bios.

However, it also shows under the specs, two empty memory slots with 0MB
memory installed.

This is an E-Machines box - 3GHz P4.

Rocky,
Here's a good online tool to check what type it can take and how your main
board handles RAM. Some need matched pairs, some ECC and some not, etc.:

Dear Lists:

My Vista machine had two 1/2 GB memory modules. I swapped one out for a 2GB
module. System says I have 2GB but the other 1/2GB module is still in slot
2. Is there any way to get the system to recognize two modules of different
capacities so I can have 2.5GB?
