Start, Run, GPedit.msc, in the Local Computer Policy (top half), go to Administrative Templates, Windows Components, then Windows Updates. In there are the policies I was talking about, you can set it to not install the ones that will require a reboot but install the rest, also loads of other things. There's an explanation page for each one in there as well, so you know what's going on. I had to work all Sunday to fix the damage caused the update.... To say the least I am not amused. MS should have a setting when an update will require a reboot it either does not install or not perform a reboot until manually confirmed. Servers sometimes can not just be rebooted without causing damage. I initially assumed there had been a power outage but then became aware that none of the clocks had suffered the same fate. It took a while to figure out what had happen but after checking the event log it was noted that a MS auto update had gone through on the server.... Yes, I know what you are going to say; "Never auto update on; and especially not server." There had been an auto update and the update affected the active directory and these effects rippled through to each station and each station was auto-rebooted. So never have MS auto-update on...
