Seems like you'd still need a FAX board and jack in to your land line.  

Didn't know MS had moved to kill yet another competitor - the venerable
WinFAX - which I use.  Wonderful program.

This article makes it sound like I can fax if I have Windows XP and
fax-enabled modem. I'm still confused a bit though -- if someone sends me a
fax phone number, how would that work -- I'm using cable Internet, so I
don't see how the two could communicate.
