Hi Susan, 1.) Go the 2GB. There isn't a 2GB limit in XP IIRC its 4GB (actually 3.x). 2.) If the cable company isn't charging a rental fee then you could just get either a wireless access point or a router with a WAP built in. If they are charging a rental fee then by all means - buy a complete solution modem/router/WAP. You might also consider buying an 3-in-1 if the cost isn't considerably different between the 2-in-1 and the 2-in-1. The advantage of the 3-in-1 is that the access to and the UI will be consistent between the three. Plus there's no blame game when the device doesn't work properly. To change modems you will need to contact the cable company and give them the MAC address of the new modem. Then make sure you return the old modem to them so they don't keep charging a rental fee. (IME the cable guy will pick it up for you if in the area.) HTH John B.
