[dba-Tech] A another Windows attack

I agree with you there Peter. Many sites I deal with have a Linux BE and
most have Windows desktops.

Another reason why I find MS so annoying. Clicked on the link, IE8 response
was "You are attempting to download from a site that is not part of your
trusted sites...". (My thought was; 'I have the latest secure version of
Adobe and real-time protection turned on, so p*** off.') Then select ADD to
the trusted sites and browsers responds "Sites added to this zone must use a
HTTPS prefix." There are no options other than bale out and download using
another browser...grrrrrr. This may be a great feature for protecting the
casual desktop user but I just do not have the time or the patience.

Thanks for the link. That just about says it all.

Well, you left out a few possibilities, eg the set of factors that makes
*Nix servers more reliable
(ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/common/ssi/sa/wh/n/pol03003usen/POL03003USEN.PDF
),
aspects of Windows architecture that make it more suitable for desktops
than for servers, the everything-depends-on-everything-else
market-driven architecture of Windows.
