I believe "allow other computers to connect to me" relates to remote access not the type of connection you are interested in. I am sure you have this but have you added shares to the computers? You have made sure all computers are in the same workgroup... Check the IP addresses of the network computers and see if you can ping them, from the command prompt. Check to make sure your son's computer ip address and subnet mask are in the same range as the rest of the network and there are no conflicts. I have my computers setup so when my laptop is remote I can still print to my home office printers, from anywhere in the world, via a hamachi connection. That may be worth considering. I have to check on "allow other computers to connect to me" but don't know where that is. Local installed firewalls Windows or McAfee have gotton me a few times. Finally as a word of woe, I have an XP box and after three years, I cannot connect to it, It can connect to my other machines but I cannot connect to it. A real PITA. Grr I hate this type of problem. Sorry that is not much of a help. Mark On 3 July 2010 01:09, Rocky Smolin <rockysmolin at bchacc.com> wrote: > Dear list(s): > > Max is home for the summer. His dell laptop has Windows 7.
