Hi Rocky, I've been testing MSE and holding my breath hoping that I could eventually start recommending MSE over Avira Free AV. It has made good gains both in detection rates and resource usage but unfortunately it recently got whapped pretty bad with an infection that caused a lot of problems. But IMO you are still better off with MSE than AVG. Have you noticed that your PCs is a little more responsive since you switched? For someone that never gets infected though, what can I say? Well, I guess I can say "where were you during our discussion on the percentage of infected PCs discussion on OT? ;o) Just in case something got through that MSE didn't even notice I would recommend that you occasionally scan with VipreRescue (a free command line scanner and removal tool version of Vipre - completely non-preventative though). It's simple to use - it copies itself to a folder and runs a full scan and removes anything it finds. It runs in a command window. If you care to, you can browse through the log file it creates. And also with MalwareBytes. Its pretty simple to use too and is very good at detecting and removing the scareware/scamware Trojans, etc. http://live.sunbeltsoftware.com/Download/ http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html ?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button As far as benefits of Vipre over MSE: Better preventative detection rates Less CPU/RAM resource usage US based technical support for problems and malware removal (nothing is perfect - so it is nice to have someone you can understand clean up anything that gets through). Benefits of MSE: Its free (Vipre costs $30 for one and $50 for all of the computers in your house) HTH John B
