The future of much of all computer based industries is Open Source Software (OSS). As with a few articles posted recently, that assertion has been proven over and over again. It is not that OSS software developers are smarter, it is that collaborative effects produce smarter results. "...I'm sure, a decade ago, the folks at Encyclopedia Britannica would have believed the encyclopedia business was going to remain just the same. But the advent of Wikipedia proved that crowd-sourced knowledge curation provided broader, deeper, and more accurate results than the traditional small pool of experts..." This is the same effect felt with giant OSS projects like Linux. Now that group intelligence can and will be turned towards AI and Robotics. The future of robotics and artificial intelligence is open: http://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/robotics/artificial-intelligence/the-futu re-of-robotics-and-artificial-intelligence-is-open Jim
