It may not be polite to speak disparagingly of the dead but with Steve Ballmer, exceptions are acceptable. 

His efforts at Microsoft has given Windows plenty of bad press and cancelled out much of the companies growth potential as well as chasing away the best programmers in the industry, which has probably set the company back at least five and maybe ten years. Even Ballmer announcing he is leaving spawned, a huge stock rally...it must give him some pause of thought when he received a huge standing ovation, as he heads for the door.
