OK. I haven't tried, neither do I plan for this use, so I cannot add much.

I have just used Disk2VHD 2.0 to make my main system backup - ~80GB - from SSD via USB 3.0 into backup HDD. It took about 30 minutes. The error I mentioned in my prev. posting still gets raised in the beginning and in the end of the backup process. *Googling 

"Unexpected error querying for the IVssWriterCallback interface. hr = 0x80070005"

gives some hints. I will try to use them to fix the issue in the coming days.
