Arthur, The original announcement about the drive said that it had some mechanized to place the most used files on the SSD portion. I can't imagine how that would work but perhaps if you opened Word for example, 2 or 3 times it might move it to the SSD until something else was used more but I have no idea how to determine that. Everything worked better including loading VS 2010, I'm sure the 7200 RPM contributes to that. I'm very happy with it , and if it starts to go bad or fails completely I'd get another one.
