Lol - yes I do. There are times its easier to fix than figure out why it's
broken. If it's "my stuff" or a recurring problem then do the detective work
otherwise just fix it quick and easy.

Glad it worked.

Re-install the printer? Too easy. Way too easy. You don't get paid for that
kind of advice, do you? I'm not falling for that line of....

Wait a minute...D'oh!

OMG! Reinstalling worked!

With much egg on face (hey - it's protein) I remain,

I would definitely recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the printer
drivers and software before doing so with Office. Restart in between doing
so (just to clean up the OS processes - uninstall programs have been getting
worse rather than better :-(

Total time maybe 15 minutes and shouldn't affect anything else.

It's been a long time. I suppose I could uninstall and reinstall Office
2003 and do the SP3 update. Think that would work?

When is the last time that you printed color from one of those programs
which now doesn't print color? If you can remember, try using System Restore
to go back to that date.

I tried adobe printing a pdf with color - no problem. And a picture using
Windows Photo Viewer. So I think the instruction is coming from Office.
But where I can't see. The grayscale box in both printer properties is
unchecked. I used PrimoPDF to make a pdf of a word doc with color text. I
displays in color in adobe but prints in black and white when I print it.
So the pdf from Word prints gray even though previews in color. While a pdf
not created in word prints color just fine.

A mystery...

Do any other apps print color - if not many printer settings include an
option to print grayscale If so then the printer setting for the office apps
may have "memorized" the settings to print grayscale.

Dear List(s):

Sorry for the cross post - you never know where the 'good' answer will com
from these days. :)

Anyway, I have two color printers and neither will print in color from any
Office app. I tried printing a picture from Windows Photo Viewer prints
color. PDF from Adobe - OK. So I think the printers are OK.

So I think it must be something on Office. This is 2003 professional.

I put three lines of text on a doc, one red, one blue, one yellow. All come
out in grayscale. If I print to PrimoPDF and then print the PDF it comes
out in grayscale as well - so it must be some instruction in Office that's
defaulting everything to grayscale.

Google is usually good about this but there's nothing except some advice
about background printing.

What to do?
