Lol - yes I do. There are times its easier to fix than figure out why it's broken. If it's "my stuff" or a recurring problem then do the detective work otherwise just fix it quick and easy. Glad it worked. -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Rocky Smolin Sent: Friday, May 17, 2013 10:48 PM To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Cc: 'Off Topic' Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Office Won't Print Color Re-install the printer? Restart in between doing so (just to clean up the OS processes - uninstall programs have been getting worse rather than better :-( Total time maybe 15 minutes and shouldn't affect anything else. -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Rocky Smolin Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2013 10:06 PM To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Office Won't Print Color It's been a long time. I suppose I could uninstall and reinstall Office 2003 and do the SP3 update. Think that would work? If you can remember, try using System Restore to go back to that date. -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Rocky Smolin Sent: Thursday, May 09, 2013 7:15 PM To: 'Discussion of Hardware and Software issues' Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] Office Won't Print Color I tried adobe printing a pdf with color - no problem. And a picture using Windows Photo Viewer. So I think the instruction is coming from Office. But where I can't see. The grayscale box in both printer properties is unchecked. I used PrimoPDF to make a pdf of a word doc with color text. I displays in color in adobe but prints in black and white when I print it. So the pdf from Word prints gray even though previews in color. While a pdf not created in word prints color just fine. A mystery... PDF from Adobe - OK. So I think the printers are OK. So I think it must be something on Office. This is 2003 professional. I put three lines of text on a doc, one red, one blue, one yellow. All come out in grayscale. If I print to PrimoPDF and then print the PDF it comes out in grayscale as well - so it must be some instruction in Office that's defaulting everything to grayscale. Google is usually good about this but there's nothing except some advice about background printing. What to do?
