Hi Jon How about - oops! - dropping a cup of coffee onto the machine? A replacement will be hard to find (for the machine, not for this old lady who probably is very nice). In this part of the World we use mobile apps for ordering taxis. Not that they will arrive faster but smarter it is. /gustav -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] På vegne af Tydda Jon - Lonza Slough Sendt: 1. november 2013 09:53 Til: Discussion of Hardware and Software issues Emne: Re: [dba-Tech] The walking dead I'm trying to tell my business, but the receptionist "doesn't trust email" and refuses to use it. At least we've only got it for booking taxis, and not business critical things any more... A search for hotel and fax on Bing returns 49.3 mio. hits. An agency specializing in French and Italian resorts I visited here some years ago to discuss IP telephony, had six fax machines running hot. And it was out of necessity, not laziness nor lack of funds. They may now have only three running, but still. /gustav -----Oprindelig meddelelse----- Fra: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] På vegne af Tydda Jon - Lonza Slough Sendt: 1. november 2013 09:15 Til: Discussion of Hardware and Software issues Emne: Re: [dba-Tech] The walking dead Sorry Gustav, you're wrong. Fax needs to die. If you've got a phone line, you can get a simple enough net connection and use email. No-one needs to have to support faxes now, it's 2013 for god's sake! :-) Jon
