Hi Rocky: This explanation has lots of pictures. http://support.real-time.com/tbird/outlook_import.html Jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rocky Smolin" <rockysmolin at bchacc.com> To: "Discussion of Hardware and Software issues" <dba-tech at databaseadvisors.com> Sent: Friday, 1 November, 2013 2:05:52 PM Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] The walking dead I used Thunderbird in the last century and it worked well. But I switched to Outlook because I needed to do some Outlook automation in Access - so it was just more convenient. I'm not enamored of Outlook though it does work really well. But if I wanted to switch back to Thunderbird would Thunderbird import my pst file from Outlook? How about rules? I actually like Outlook but the product is too small for today's volumes of mail messages...two to four GBs just doesn't cut it (and it is too easy to hack) and I am not going to install an Exchange server just to support it. > > Jim > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Peter Brawley" <peter.brawley at earthlink.net> > To: "Discussion of Hardware and Software issues" > <dba-tech at databaseadvisors.com> > Sent: Thursday, 31 October, 2013 5:07:05 PM > Subject: Re: [dba-Tech] The walking dead > > On 2013-10-31 1:44 PM, Jim Lawrence wrote: >> Here is a good start list of programs that are part of the "Walking Dead" and should be tossed as soon as possible. > Corporate BS meant to persuade us old is terrible, expensive new is > necessary. > > [Thunderbird choked on my first send, hope this isn't a dupe] > > PB > > ----- > > >> I must admit I still have sites with XP but will be either moving them to Linux or Windows 7, depending on what the client wants.
