[dba-Tech] Facebook releases its engine core

Hi Arthur:

It is getting a little off topic but the product being discussed is a new OS SQL DB called "Presto" (http://prestodb.io/), the BE for Facebook. The thing that makes this unique is that it fully distributive and unlike the NOSQL alternatives this is a full SQL implementation. The question being asked is how the DB communicates and where is the GUI?

The answer appears to be, via web interface (JSON/AJAX) but not sure how the database is accessed from the desktop, what port it uses, is there a ODBC connector and so on and as for a GUI, not yet.

Jim

Jim,

To which "new system" are you referring?

A.
