[dba-Tech] Parsing Microsoft’s Massive 42% Gain In 2013

Hi Shamil:

Like you, I remember, Digital systems (VAX, PDP etc), at one time larger than IBM. The company did not adapt fast enough and they now only exist in our memory. 

Microsoft was coasting for many years and using products and protocols that were used by no one else. Many of the young, brightest and best people, in the business have already abandoned Microsoft and we, old developers are not going to live forever. 

But, it seems that Microsoft is now actually making an effort to comply with industry standards and work with their competitors... If they continue on this path their future is bright, otherwise...
