[dba-Tech] Maximum RAM question

... Perhaps I should have said - why Crucial? Because you tell them your motherboard manufacturer and look up the model
(as I did with yours), or let their scanner run on your system. They'll give you *all* the relevant information you
might need for buying appropriate RAM. Being lazy, I like the bit where you buy one of the choices they list, and they
GUARANTEE it'll work. Saves reading all the small print!

My 2c

Hi Arthur

My favorite memory supplier, Crucial.com, says yes, a matched pair of 4GB to get the best results. Which of course
they'll sell to you!

I have an old tower computer whose motherboard was recently replaced. The new motherboard is a Gigabyte Technology Co.,
Ltd. M61PME-S2P.

Currently it has 4GB of DDR2 RAM, using the two slots. Is it possible to upgrade this to 8GB (2x4GB)? I run Windows 7
64-bit most often, and Ubuntu now and then.
