Hi Gustav -- Yes, Linux but different OSS development tools/hosting stacks: LAMP, Mean, Dokku, .... - they are also available for MS Windows. The issue here is that setup of an OSS tool on my main *Windows* dev PC or on a *Windows* VM is quite time consuming, and DigitalOcean (they claim) provides a ready to use OSS dev environment in 55 seconds. I don't have luxury/time to spend hours setting up my OSS dev environment(s) especially taking into account that their setups on Windows often goes with quite a few obscure issues to solve. So DigitalOcean looks like a true time/"life" saver. -- Shamil Wed, 2 Apr 2014 11:34:12 +0000 from Gustav Brock <gustav at cactus.dk>: >Hi Shamil > >I did, and it looks all Linux to me. >Nothing wrong with that but not very useful for me. > >/gustav > > >-----Oprindelig meddelelse----- >Fra: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] På vegne af Salakhetdinov Shamil >Sendt: 2. april 2014 13:07 >Til: Discussion of Hardware and Software issues >Emne: Re: [dba-Tech] Cloud prices are (have) coming down > > Hi Gustav -- > >Did you scroll down on this web page: https://www.digitalocean.com/one-click-apps/ ? > >If I'm not mistaken besides "LAMP Stack" DigitalOcean seems to be supporting also Mean, Dokku, Docker etc. > >If they can add a "55 seconds setup" for Hadoop hosting and, e.g., add Go ( http://golang.org/ ) to support, let's call it "Mean+ Stack" that would be more than enough for me. > >-- Shamil > >Wed, 2 Apr 2014 09:50:14 +0000 from Gustav Brock < gustav at cactus.dk >: >>Hi Shamil >> >>It appears to be Linux (LAMP) only, so ... >> >>If not, they really need to explain things better. >> >>/gustav > >_______________________________________________ >dba-Tech mailing list >dba-Tech at databaseadvisors.com >http://databaseadvisors.com/mailman/listinfo/dba-tech >Website: http://www.databaseadvisors.com >
