This new application, Syncthing, is still in its development phase (it is still at the pre-version 1 phase) but it is fully operational. According to its company description it is as follows: "Syncthing replaces Dropbox and BitTorrent Sync with something open, trustworthy and decentralized. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, if it is shared with some third party and how it's transmitted over the Internet." It also runs on all platforms, is fully secure, encrypted and has a host of features. http://syncthing.net Aside: I have been using BitTorrent Sync and it has been doing an excellent job of network backups but it is proprietary and not "average" user (Apple) friendly.
