Glad you got it fixed.

Browsers are designed pretty rugged these days and it is very hard to actually hack the application so hijackers have to rely on re-direction and obscurity to gain control. These hacks are usually fairly rudimentary; shortcuts, options list hacks and plugin hacks.

Thanks, Jim. For the benefit of those who have suffered similar problems,
one hijack method that I have discovered is that the hijacker modifies any
shortcuts and adds an argument that effectively redirects the browser to a
new site. So the take-away is, if your browser goes wonky, first thing to
check is the shortcut, whether it's on your desktop or QuickLaunch bar.
