Make sure the sound keys are not muted. Some laptops have an annoying set of volume controls. Some used to even have a manual sound wheel which once physically turned off had to be physically turned back on - the software settings wouldn't affect it at all! Otherwise try a system restore to the last time it worked - should remove any driver problems. -----Original Message----- From: dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com [mailto:dba-tech-bounces at databaseadvisors.com] On Behalf Of Arthur Fuller Sent: Tuesday, February 10, 2015 6:22 PM To: Discussion of Hardware and Software issues Subject: [dba-Tech] Sound puzzle For reasons I cannot fathom, something has happened to the sound system on my laptop. The volume control is set to 100% but no sound comes out, no matter which program I try. I don't often play music or vids on my laptop, so I don't know for how long this situation has been the case. Any suggestions how I can track down the problem? It's a Dell Inspiron with Windows 8.1, and it used to work just fine. Any suggestions much appreciated. -- Arthur _______________________________________________ dba-Tech mailing list dba-Tech at databaseadvisors.com http://databaseadvisors.com/mailman/listinfo/dba-tech Website: http://www.databaseadvisors.com
