[dba-Tech] Sound puzzle

"I" fixed it; not sure how or why, but why argue with success? I went into
the device manager, found the sound thing, selected it and clicked "Test".
And it worked! I noticed a checkbox to include the sign-on sound, so I
checked that too, and then rebooted. Presto.

Maybe the fact that I ran around the nearby synagogue three times,
lamenting "Say it ain't so, Jon Stuart!" had something to do with it. Maybe
God decided that it was just too much to take two things away from me on
the same day.
