Hi Lambert,

yes, I agree with you that the blackbox has a data logging requirement.
However, I presume that we all now also recognise that planes need an
additional robust location identifier.

You are correct that there is no need to mix up the two, I was doing that.
With this in mind, all that airlines need to do is design, build and
install a second device, the 365 day GPS tracker to existing aircraft.  We
can leave the Black boxes as they are until next generation and then assess
how to mix both parts.
