I would try substituting another display to isolate whether the image
problem is in the display or the comp.

Subject: [dba-Tech] Display irregularities

My main squeeze is a laptop, to which is attached a 22" Acer monitor so it's
got two monitors, seen as one very wide monitor. In the past couple of days
something's gone sideways with the Acer display: I'm getting a sort of
double-image of the text etc., just a slight offset as if the normal fonts
were using a shadow-font. A cold boot fixes the problem. The laptop display
is crystal-clear (aside: it's a Dell Inspiron and the display is absolutely
gorgeous), but from time to time the 22" Acer seems to go sideways just a
touch, just enough to be irritating. As I said, a cold boot seems to fix
the problem. Is this an indication of the age of the monitor? It's about 7
years old, and inexpensive, so that might not surprise me. But it could be
something simple like some adjustment or another, and I hate to toss
hardware that still has life in it. (My motto is, Why toss, when one can
re-purpose?)

Any ideas?
