I still haven't figured this one out. I sent an inquiry to Vipre asking if
it might be a virus but they never responded. :( I'm still looking for info
on this. I see the screen, but it doesn't lock up anymore. But the system is
still unstable - runs fine and then crawls to a near stop.
So, today I was researching the high memory usage for something called
system memory and compressed memory and eventually uninstalled a security
update. System's still slow - but that's no longer showing up in Task
Manager with a huge number. It's still there, just small.

Subject: Preparing Security Options - frozen system

I've been researching this problem a lot over the last few days and although
it seems old, I seem to be having the problem for the first time with a new
system (just a few months old). It first appeared after upgrading to Windows
10 from 8.1. It's annoying to say the least, especially since there seems no
consensus on what's causing this or how to get rid of it. Anyone have any
experience with this and able to offer some help?
Thanks!
