No, CrunchBang Linux is not dead and the project has been forked to BunsenLabs.

This Debian distro will run fine on any computer that Windows95 or later could have run on, as it needs only a 386 with 512K RAM (The OS uses 255MB on which to run). The main different is the the OS recognizes all the current codexes, protocols, hardware, all major CPUs and runs most of the latest software. It is a perfect product for reviving old hardware or running a great desktop or super-fast server.
