I am going to guess that after the initial installation you'll need to run
windows update through a few cycles. Each cycle of Windows Update will take
you a minute to get it going. Keep doing windows update until it says
there's nothing more to do.

I have downloaded the upgrade and they want me to schedule the install.
They're recommending sometime when I'm not using my comp. Easy. But...did
I recall someone noting that the upgrade requires sporadic user input? Do I
have to be present?

Just upgraded a Dell Vostro 3550 laptop (not quite 3 years old) with an i5
and 4GB RAM. It ran windows 7 great. Windows 10 makes it act like a
lethargic puppy.

It is not on Dell's list of systems which are supported on Windows 10 but
not much over a couple of years old is.
