[dba-Tech] Edge

Hi Dan:

Two other notes to think about:
1. If the drive(s) were bought via a credit card, some cards can actually double the warranty period.
2. It is unlikely, your hardware supplier will challenge your assessment as the state of SSD drives are very difficult to assess.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for reminding me about the warranty! For this SSD it was 3 years, and I bought it about 2.5 years ago.

So, I will try to prove to myself that it's actually bad and then send it back.

Hi Dan:

Looks like you nailed it. :-)

You would think your SSD should still be under warranty at least from the SSD manufacturer. One to two years depending on the drive maker...

Hi Jim,

This afternoon I cloned my C drive (SSD) to a HDD and am using that as the boot drive. So far, no problems!

Looks like tomorrow I'll be buying a new SSD from the local Best Buy.

The symptoms I was having are all included when people on-line described the problems they were having with W10 Anniversary Update - so it took me a while to suspect a hardware problem. SSD's are supposed to last longer than this one did!

Hi Dan:

There sounds like there is definitely something wrong with your current installation. Is there a log of events or an error that appears?:

For the record, such a sever system reaction, seems to be a hardware issue(?) or an incorrect driver issue. Is your system capable of running a full update session before it carshes? Have you tried running start boot command system checkers...testing memory and testing for hard drive faults would be easy. I have no idea how good the following list of hardware testing products are but I would think it is a good place to start:

PS: Have you tried changing your browser as there are many very nice products available.

That's for sure! This morning I get to work in five minute increments between forced restarts.

I've tried many things to solve this, but so far no luck.

In a few years it will all be worked out.

W10 Anniversary has a freezing issue - my experience was that the browsers locked up first.

working. It just hangs with a mostly blank page and has to be killed in the Task Manager. Anyone experience anything similar?

Did similar tricks here on several occasions, I no longer try to make it work.
