Hi Stuart
Very clever, though I've never had the need to rename sheets in an automated way.

You don't even need to change the extention. Many ZIP file utilities let you open regardless of the extension. ( I just right click on a .xlsx file and select 7Zip - Open from my explorer
menu.)
I've done this occassionally. If you need to check the number of sheets and the sheet names (and possibly rename sheets) in a load of workbooks, the simplest way is to open the
archive 7Zip and edit the file Workbook.xml.
It's fairly simple to write a small utility to do this this sort of thing for all the files in a directory.
:)
