[dba-Tech] Shortcut for opening URL with Edge

Hi Jim

Right, Edge is Windows 10 only, I know. No problem for us, as we don't have Linux desktops.

But I thought, that when you wrote "I have a few sites where Edge failed" that you had visited some URLs where Edge didn't behave as expected.
I'm trying to locate some examples, but until now no one has been able to provide any. Still looking ...

Hi Gustav:

If you are asking about my comment about Edge not working on most of my computers it was more a "tongue-in-cheek" remark. So far Edge does not run on Linux computers. If you hear anything to the contrary please let me know. On a serious note it should be questioned why Microsoft Edge browser, to my knowledge, is the only browser that does not run on Linux.

I have been trying to keep up with both the Microsoft and Linux communities and tend to only support applications that run in both environments. Fortunately, as I am retired from active duty, I do not have to make the difficult decisions or specialise on one platform or another. I believe and have been seeing, that a purest position, in either Microsoft or Linux, is becoming less and less possible. From my observations it seems that all the younger guys are multilingual.

Hi Jim

Interesting. Could you provide a failing URL or two for me to play with, please?

Yes, I follow the Microsoft-Linux evolvement - though at a distance, as I have no intention to develop in or under Linux.

I have a few sites where Edge failed. ;-)

Have you been tracking the latest Linux and Microsoft joint ventures?

Git for everyone. Standardisation at last.

Hi all

There is no easy way to create a shortcut for an URL to be opened with Edge.
With IE you can just drag and drop the URL line to the desktop.

Here's the recipe for Edge:

I have still to meet a site where Edge fails, and I've used Edge since the first developer edition of Windows 10.
