I think a lot depends on what sort of things you watch on TV.
Certainly most sports come out much better on a bigger screen
particularly with the high resolutions we have available now.  Hockey
has become much more watchable now that we can see and follow the
puck. And also how far away from the screen is your seating factors
into the equation. If you watch movies the bigger screen gives you
more of a theater experience.  I would toss out there that having a
good SOUND system with decent power and proper speakers including a
subwoofer or two is also important for that.  But you certainly have
to have the right room and a fairly decent sized room.  You can't put
a 7 & 1/2 foot screen in a 8 foot wide room.

Watching news being read on a larger screen IS a bit strange.  But you
get used to it.
