A couple of nights ago was chatting with a group of senior techs and one fellow had been working, cleaning up data for a big research project. He was using OpenRefine (originally GoogleRefine) to do this contract:

It runs on all major platforms and works through the browser. Before my retirement, I could have used this product as there are so many databases with garbage in them.
