Another thing that gets snuck in on consumer laptops are programs with "free
trials". 
They load at the start and most people never turn that off or uninstall
them. Dropbox, McAfee, Norton, VPN services, etc. These all suck up your
resources.

Best thing to do is just go through the apps list and remove all of that
stuff. Other things that can be removed without consequence are things like
3D apps, Feedback, Tips, Disney Games, Xbox, etc. (It won't let you
uninstall some of those apps listed.)
