Hit the send by mistake:
That's why I lwave my phone by the computer. I never walk around with my
phone. I have a land line and have trained people not to call me on my cell
phone because I never answer it. That's been pretty successful.
Talking to someone on a cell phone is annoying because if the call lasts
more than 3 minutes, somewhere along the way 1) the call will get dropped,
2) they'll move into some area where I'll only hear every other word, 3)
they're in a noisy place where they can't hear me and we end up shouting at
each other.
The land line on the other had 1) never drops a call, 2) never moves into
an area where the transmission is weak, and is always in a quiet place - my
home. I love my landline.
When I first got the phone, I had the ringer on - like most people. Then,
in a movie or play, or concert, I had to turn it off. Then I would forget
to turn it back on again. But then I would remember. And then it would
ring at an inappropriate time and embarrass me. So I left it off from day
one.
But for my friends who are addicted to their phones and live with FOMO, I
can put a finger on them any time I want to. They HAVE TO respond to their
phone. I have that power over them. Fortunately for them I don't abuse
the power. :o)
I know, dinosaur. And sorry about hijacking your thread about AV for the
Cell phone and turning into a rant about cell phones.
But I don't like cell phones - socially. Not technologically.
Technically, they're wonderful. Socially, they're a disease.
