Right now it's at 6 -- the last update forced it from 4 to 6. I don't think
those two extra keystrokes will really matter.
I just need to adjust my attitude I guess. You are correct, if I go anywhere
overnight, it goes with me.

Having a laptop without that first line of defense would make me real
nervous. As you say it's with you a lot when you're out and about.
Years ago I rebuilt the OS on a machine and didn't put a password on it.
It started up just the way you want - right to the desktop. That may have
been W7 - so quite a while ago.
In the past I have used a three or four character sign in to make the login
fast. Maybe just reducing the number of keystrokes can get you where you
want to go?
