I used to use AVAST back in the day but then it got resource hoggy and
intrusive so I abandoned it. But it's probably much better now.  I
eventually landed on Windows Defender which seems to work well, and also
run Malwarebytes and Bitdefender(free).  And I practice safe computing so I
don't get viruses.
