Hi Jim True, but indeed I suspect this issue to be true also if the SQL Server 2008 is installed on a remote machine. VS2008 seems to have very few issues running on Vista Business which is what I use. /gustav >>> accessd at shaw.ca 10-02-2008 19:33 >>> Very strange Gustav... but Vista is still just a desktop app and is not a server class OS...? I just took the time to install SQL Server 2008 Express CTP and VS2008 on a new machine (Vista) to enjoy a brave new world. But as soon you attempt to connect to the server, this message pops: "This server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 are supported." They must be kidding ... even an add-on for VS2005 is available: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e1109aef-1aa2-408d- aa0f-9df094f993bf&displaylang=en How odd is this? VS2008 ships with the SQL Server 2005 Express but still. Any ideas on how to get it to accept SQL Server 2008 CTP? /gustav
