Well, to some degree and probably for you and me. However, for media applications you may need the Windows Phone Connect Tool and a physical phone as I understand it (not tested by me).

will use them for Windows Phone 7 "must have" set of links first place.

And I guess Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools do have Windows Phone 7 Device
simulator running under VS2010 when debugging/testing?

No, WP7 does not support databases - you set up a service for data
communication. That's one of the things I wish to check out.
