If the partition is truely gone this isn't something that can be fixed by a home user. There is a possibility that a professional, using a sector editor, could get in there and recover files, but I doubt this is going to fall into the 100 - 200 dollar range. If you are going to attempt having someone recover your stuff do NOT let anyone else make any misguided (however well-meaning) attempts, such as recreating the partition. This would likely destroy any chances at all. It used to run fine. I took it to a computer repair store and they told me that there was no partition and that they could not recover the data. Any ideas how I can get the data off the drive cheaply? It isn't worth $500 but it might be worth $100 or $200.
