Cool!

I am trying to write a version of the old Empire game using VB.Net. At the
moment I am stalled trying to discover how to display the landscape and
piece icons, and associate them to some sort of control so that I can then
click and do stuff to them. .Net has so much cool stuff built in that the
whole project is much easier than it would otherwise be. I am building a
gaming engine that understands the "location" idea as well as the rules for
rolling the dice and deciding who wins a battle, all with the odds table
driven so they can be modified by the player if desired.

Here is some fun stuff to learn .Net
You can download Quake II .NET from Vertigo
Software including the full source code and project files.
You will have to load data files as well
Vertigo does provide a 12-page white paper filled with tips.
Check it out to learn more about running managed .NET applications
using the CLR. Ported from C to C++
