Cool! I am trying to write a version of the old Empire game using VB.Net. At the moment I am stalled trying to discover how to display the landscape and piece icons, and associate them to some sort of control so that I can then click and do stuff to them. .Net has so much cool stuff built in that the whole project is much easier than it would otherwise be. I am building a gaming engine that understands the "location" idea as well as the rules for rolling the dice and deciding who wins a battle, all with the odds table driven so they can be modified by the player if desired. You will have to load data files as well Vertigo does provide a 12-page white paper filled with tips. Check it out to learn more about running managed .NET applications using the CLR.
