I think it would be easy enough to offer a built-in workaround, but since it isn't necessary, I guess there are better ways to spend their time. :) The NotInList event isn't even necessary depending on how you approach the problem. If the bound column is not visible/editable how can Access know how to handle an entry that is not in the list. It can't know what value to store as the bound data.
