Thanks Patti, and also Chris Tom (my developer) had got his connection objects mixed up and was getting the wrong permissions as a result. Check the permissions for the TABLES underlying the View as well as the view. We ran into something similar because the Code tables that made up the view did not have the same permissions as the main table.
