In my case, it's always meant the card was about to give up the ghost
and I had found the one reader that realized it early.  Get a
replacement BEFORE it stops working everywhere.

Swiped Out: An ATM or credit card that has been rendered useless because
the magnetic strip is worn away from extensive use.

=======Speaking of... I have trouble using my debit card at one Wal-mart
store -- just one Wal-mart and no place else, not even other Wal-marts.
What's up with that?
