Nah, not the usual MS stuff. Something about the database being locked. When he tries to open the FE with that BE linked he gets - unable to open db because the db is opened exclusively by another user - or some such thing. Which it isn't. The blocks I get on my laptop are: 1. A potential security concern has been identified. (This is because I reference an MDE in my code). Solution "Click on Open" 2. a bar appears across the top saying "Security Warning Certain content in the database has been disabled with an Options Button. Solution "Click the options button and then select Enable Content" So, it is not really blocked just irritating. I am using Vista with Officer 2007 installed but opening a 2003 mdb. There may be ways to permanently avoid these irritations but I do not know what they are. They're getting blocked opening the back end on their server. 2003 works OK on other machines. 2007 no. I had him try to open the BE directly on his machine in O2007 and got some kind of lock error message from O2007. So I asked him if loading O2003 on his machine was an option. He thinks so, but would like to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling O2007. No hassle with the security, windows opening to reinstall stuff, and all the other crap that you deal with when you have several recent versions on the same machine. Just my 2 cents worth. Is this still true for O2007? I have a user who has O2007 installed and wants to run Access 2003 on the same machine. Does he still have to uninstall O2007, install O2003 and then re-install )2007, or can 3 be installed after 7 without breaking anything?
