[AccessD] Installing Different Version of Access/db is opened exclusively by another user

Hi Rocky,

Had a similar problem recently when one of my databases that had
worked without a hitch
for ten years suddenly threw up that message. No-one has access to
these machines but
me - so I'm guessing a Windows service pack - had some strange
problems with these...

There's a lot of stuff about this error message on the various
forums, usually relating to the
read/write permissions of the folder containing the BE database. The
FE machine needs to
write to this BE machine/folder, creating lock files, etc.

I tried every suggestion, especially making sure the permissions were
in order - without success.
In the end I decided life was too short and simply moved the BE to a
different folder on the BE machine.
Relinked the front end. Problem solved - been working fine ever since...

HTH,

Kind regards,
Ralph Bryce
